Getting around using the tunnel
The new tunnel provides a direct route under downtown from the stadiums to the Space Needle. The south end connects to Alaskan Way and downtown, the north end connects to Seattle Center and South Lake Union.

Work underway on viaduct, Battery Street Tunnel and Aurora Ave N
With the tunnel open, work has begun on removing the Alaskan Way Viaduct and closing the Battery Street Tunnel. Three blocks of Aurora Avenue North where the Battery Street Tunnel once connected to SR 99 are also being rebuilt.

The tunnel will be free to use when it first opens. Tolling could begin as soon as summer 2019.
Toll rates will range from $1 to $2.25 with a Good To Go! pass, depending on time of day.
